Weekend Breakfast Magic: Our Special Muffin Mornings

Ah, weekend mornings! The magical time when our household slows down and truly savors the moments. After a week of mad dashes and quick cereals, our weekend breakfasts become a special family ritual.

This weekend, I decided to switch things up a bit and try a BBC Goodfood recipe for muffins. The usual cereal was given a break, and an experiment with muffins took center stage. I halved the ingredients, swapped out brown sugar for white, and added some leftover Fruit Loops for a bit of extra fun and color.

Now, I’ll be honest. The muffins may have come out a tad overcooked on the outside. Possibly, I was slightly distracted by Henry and Valerie trying to run after the cats! Nonetheless, despite their crispy exterior, the muffins were quite a hit! They were soft inside and had the perfect crunch from the Fruit Loops.

To accompany our muffin adventure, we paired them with Eloise’s favorite morning tea: Tulsi by Pukka. For those unfamiliar, Tulsi tea (also known as Holy Basil tea) is packed with benefits, especially for kids. It can help boost immunity, reduce stress, and improve digestion. Plus, it has a delicious, soothing taste that even the pickiest of eaters seem to enjoy. Tip: add honey for extra deliciousness.

The best part about our weekend breakfasts isn’t just the food; it’s the time we spend together. There’s something truly special about gathering around the table without the weekday rush. We share stories, laugh at silly jokes, and sometimes even plan our little adventures for the day. It’s a time when we reconnect and create memories that are so important for Eloise and me alike.

With Eloise’s Daddy at the gym, it was pure mother-daughter and grandmother bonding time. My mum, Eloise’s grandmother, joined in too. She loved the muffins and added her own dash of sweetness to the morning with childhood stories that kept Eloise giggling.

If you’re thinking of trying our muffin experiment, here’s a quick tip: Keep an eye on those muffins to avoid a toasty surprise! And remember, the joy isn’t just in the perfect end product but in the process of making and sharing them together.

So next weekend, set aside the cereal, gather your family, and make some muffin magic!

Here’s a bonus picture of Henry who thought all our chit chatting was boring and didn’t include the mention of cheese or treats!
